Windsor native Maralee Bixby is joining us to teach 4th Grade at Woodrow Wilson Elementary! After finishing at Windsor High School, she graduated from SUNY Oneonta and is currently pursuing her master's in literacy from American College of Education. She says it has always been in her heart to be a teacher, and she was inspired by teachers throughout her life, in and out of the classroom, whom she looked up to.
"I feel very blessed to have always known that teaching is what I’m meant to do," Bixby said.
"My favorite part of teaching is creating a classroom that feels like a home away from home for my students. I love the connections I get to build with them and creating those core memories they’ll hopefully look back on one day. Some of my favorite moments are when they’re having so much fun that they don’t even realize they’re learning!"
She was drawn to the Binghamton City School District because of its strong sense of community and commitment to supporting all students, and is excited about the opportunity to join a diverse district where she could continue growing as an educator while making a positive impact.
Outside of the classroom, she loves singing, writing, trying new recipes, taking little road trips, spending time outside, shopping, watching movies, going to church, watching football, and spending time with her friends and family, including her dog, Hope. #BPatriotProud
